Construction of Representations in News
North Korea Missile Launches
"North Korea fires second ballistic missile over Japan" this represents that it isn't the first time and the reader or viewer will imply that North Korea have launched many before which due to stereotypes wouldn't surprise the viewer. This builds the tension for the news reader as they wonder how bad it is this time therefor it draws them into the news and makes them more interested. The dysphemism "fire" connotes carnage, danger and warfare however if the news was to use "send" or "launched" they don't give the same effect to the viewer.
The news article has been constructed and specifically chosen to emit as much attention as it can get as its a huge advance in the ongoing grudge between North Korea and The United States and this is so significant because Britain has a very good relationship with America so this could also mean that the article could be bias towards America. As well as this, both America and North Korea are universally known countries so this would be viewed as very newsworthy and especially with the controversy that North Korea causes and the size of The USA in other countries like the UK.
